A FEW SIMPLE STEPS

How to use QR Contents Inspector

  1. Paste decoded QR content and select Inspect content, or choose a PNG, JPG, WebP or BMP image under 20 MB and 24 megapixels.
  2. Optionally start your camera and grant access. No audio is requested, and scanning stops when a code is found.
  3. Review the detected format and individual fields. WiFi passwords need a reveal action. The summary does not verify safety or correctness.
  4. Expand Raw content and exports to see, copy or download the exact content. Clear everything when finished.

Why use this tool?

All decoding and field inspection run on your device using local scripts. No links are visited, networks joined, contacts saved or events imported. Tool inputs stay out of browser storage, and the original content remains available for review.

Tool inputs stay in your browser. Only your theme preference is saved on this device.

A few things worth knowing

How is this different from QR Code Scanner?

The scanner reads a QR code and returns its content. This inspector also accepts pasted decoded text and explains common fields in URLs, WIFI settings, basic vCards, mailto email, SMS and calendar events.

Does this tell me whether a QR code is safe?

No. It identifies common formats and summarizes fields without visiting a destination or checking reputation. A recognized format or plausible hostname does not establish trust. Embedded URL credentials are flagged, and every value remains plain text.

Are passwords hidden?

The parsed WiFi password is hidden behind Reveal password. The collapsed raw-content section still contains the exact payload, and copying or downloading it includes any password. Anyone with the QR code can read its content.

Are all contact and calendar formats supported?

No. Basic vCard fields and the first VEVENT are summarized, with folded lines and common backslash escapes handled. Complex encoded contact values, extensions, recurrence rules and time zones are not evaluated. Calendar values remain as encoded, and DTEND is an exclusive end. Review raw content when fields are missing.

What happens to my camera?

It starts only after your action and browser permission, with no audio. It stops after a scan, when you paste and inspect content, choose a file, clear the tool, leave the tab or leave the page. HTTPS or localhost is required.
