A FEW SIMPLE STEPS

How to use QR Code Scanner

  1. Choose a PNG, JPG, WebP or BMP image, or drop it into the image area. Use an image under 20 MB and 24 megapixels.
  2. Alternatively, select a camera preference and press Start camera. Allow camera access when your browser asks. HTTPS or localhost is required.
  3. Keep the full code in view. The scanner reads one QR code at a time and stops the camera when a code is found.
  4. Review the decoded content. Copy it, download a text file, or choose to open a recognized website link. Clear everything when finished.

Why use this tool?

Your image and camera frames are decoded in your browser using a locally hosted QR reader. They are not uploaded or recorded by this tool. The decoded content is not saved in browser storage, and no link opens unless you choose to open it.

Tool inputs stay in your browser. Only your theme preference is saved on this device.

A few things worth knowing

Which images can I scan?

Use a PNG, JPG, WebP or BMP image up to 20 MB and 24 megapixels. SVG, PDF, animated images and ordinary barcodes are not supported. For a small code in a large photo, crop closely while keeping the full quiet border.

Why is my camera not working?

Camera access needs a supported browser, HTTPS (or localhost for development), and your permission. A camera can also be unavailable if another app is using it or an embedded browser blocks access. Image scanning remains available without camera access.

Does this scanner open links or connect to WiFi?

No. It shows the raw decoded content first. Only HTTP and HTTPS website links without embedded credentials get an optional Open website link. WiFi details, contact cards, email and SMS content are shown as text. Opening a website leaves this tool and makes a normal request to that website.

What if a QR code cannot be read?

Try better lighting, a sharper image, and a closer crop with the full white border intact. Avoid glare and steep angles. Very dense, damaged, stylized or unusually encoded codes may not decode. If multiple codes are present, crop to the one you want.

What happens to my camera and image?

The camera runs only after you press Start and grant permission. It stops when a code is found, when you press Stop, when you choose an image, or when you leave the tab. Clear everything removes the selected image and result from the tool.
