Static PNG/JPEG/WebP · up to 20 MiB, 40 megapixels. Processing uses a resized crop, at most 2048 px per side / 4 megapixels. Best for logos, silhouettes and clean line art.

Tracing settings
Removes foreground components smaller than this size, using 4-neighbor connectivity. It does not fill holes or join gaps.
Large crops are downsampled; small crops are not enlarged. Changing resolution also changes noise-removal and simplification effects.
Crop (% of source)
DXF size
Uses original, orientation-corrected source pixels, independently of tracing resolution. For a known crop width, divide its desired DXF width by the reported crop pixel width.
The label sets the unit header; it does not change the numeric scale. Origin is the cropped image's lower-left corner; CAD Y points up.

Converted DXF preview
The traced DXF outlines will appear here.
No DXF generated.
The preview reparses the actual DXF. Thick lines produce two boundaries, not a single centerline. Holes become separate closed polylines. Anti-aliasing, threshold, downsampling and simplification can change dimensions and topology.
Trace report
Output: AC1015 ASCII DXF, closed LWPOLYLINE outlines on layer 0. Transparent pixels composite onto white. No OCR, centerline extraction, CAD layer/dimension recovery, background understanding, path repair or cutter compensation. Complex/noisy images may exceed bounded tracing limits. Use clean artwork, inspect holes/gaps/duplicate edges and verify scale in CAD/CAM before any fabrication. Keep the source image.
A FEW SIMPLE STEPS
How to use Image to DXF
Choose a static PNG, JPEG or WebP image, or load the synthetic example. Clean silhouettes and high-contrast artwork work best.
Set the crop, threshold, inversion, minimum foreground component size and outline simplification. Compare the source crop and processed mask.
Set DXF units per original image pixel and the unit label. Review the actual DXF preview and extent report, download, then verify the outlines in CAD/CAM.

Why use this tool?
Your image is never uploaded to any server; all decoding, tracing, DXF generation and previews happen in your browser. Adjustable processing and a generated-DXF preview let you inspect the result before downloading.
Tool inputs stay in your browser. Only your theme preference is saved on this device.
A few things worth knowing
Does it trace the center of a drawn line?
No. It traces pixel-region boundaries. A thick line can produce two outline boundaries, and holes become separate closed polylines. It does not recover editable CAD dimensions, text or layers.
Which images work best?
Logos, silhouettes and clean high-contrast line art. Photographs, textured backgrounds and noisy scans can create too many outlines or poor results. Threshold and simplification do not understand objects or repair geometry.
How does scale work?
Enter DXF units per original orientation-corrected image pixel. Tracing may downsample the crop, but its nominal physical extent still uses original pixels. The unit label only sets the DXF header. The cropped image lower-left is the origin; CAD Y points up. Verify dimensions after tracing.
What are the processing limits?
Static PNG/JPEG/WebP up to 20 MiB, 40 megapixels and 16,384 pixels per source side. Working images are limited to 2048 pixels per side and 4 megapixels, with at most 200,000 boundary edges, 100,000 output vertices and 10,000 outlines. Complex images fail explicitly rather than silently exporting partial geometry.
Can I use the output directly for cutting?
Inspect it first in CAD/CAM. Threshold, downsampling and simplification can change dimensions, holes and topology. There is no duplicate-edge cleanup, centerline extraction, path repair or cutter compensation. This is an intermediate outline drawing.
