Conversion Tools

Cooking Volume Converter

Convert fractional cooking measures between named metric, US customary and Imperial liquid volumes. Scale recipes without confusing cup or spoon conventions.

Your content stays on your device Free, with no account
Explicit units. Clear assumptions. Local conversion · no uploads
Fractions and mixed numbers are accepted: 1/2, 1 1/2, or decimal notation.
Multiply the amount before converting. 0.5 halves a recipe; 2 doubles it.
Display rounding only. Exact calculated values remain in the details.

Always choose the named convention. A metric tablespoon is 15 mL; an Australian tablespoon is 20 mL. US customary and 240/250 mL cups are distinct. This converts volume, not ingredient mass.

A FEW SIMPLE STEPS

How to use Cooking Volume Converter

  1. Enter a nonnegative amount, including an exact fraction or mixed number if useful.
  2. Choose explicitly named source and target measures. Check the displayed mL definition rather than assuming all cups or spoons match.
  3. Adjust the recipe multiplier with its slider or exact input. Review decimal, exact and mixed-fraction results.
  4. Copy the result or download a TXT report. Clear releases the main entered value and result; category shortcuts open other converters.

Why use this tool?

All calculations run locally in your browser. Your values are never uploaded and no input history is saved. Explicit units and assumptions make the result easier to check. No account or remote processing is needed.

Tool inputs stay in your browser. Only your theme preference is saved on this device.

A few things worth knowing

Why are there several cup and tablespoon choices?

Conventions differ. This tool names exact nominal capacities: metric cup 250 mL, 240 mL cup, US customary cup about 236.588 mL, and a clearly labeled 10-Imperial-fluid-ounce cup. Metric and Australian tablespoons also differ.

Are 240 mL and US customary cups identical?

No. The 240 mL option is explicitly a 240 mL convention. The US customary cup is eight US liquid fluid ounces, or 236.5882365 mL. Choose the convention used by your recipe.

Can this convert cups of flour to grams?

No. That requires ingredient density and packing information. Use Mass / Volume with Density and supply an appropriate density. Fluid ounces here describe volume, not mass.

Are my values uploaded or saved?

No. Calculations stay in this browser page and inputs are not persisted. Only the theme preference is saved. Copy and report download happen only when you choose.
