Base64 to Image

Decode raw Base64 or an image data URL into a static PNG, JPEG or WebP. Preview the result and download the original decoded file bytes, entirely on your device.

Static PNG, JPEG or WebP. Up to 16 MiB of text and 10 MiB decoded. Spaces and line breaks are ignored. Standard Base64 only; URL-safe Base64 is not supported.

No file selected.

The file is read on your device. Its contents replace the text above.

Paste the complete output. A truncated text preview from another tool cannot reconstruct the original image.

YOUR DECODED IMAGE

Your image preview will appear here.

Ready. Paste your encoded image to begin.

Download preserves the decoded file bytes, including metadata. Only the screen preview is scaled and oriented by the browser. Base64 is an encoding, not encryption.

A FEW SIMPLE STEPS

How to use Base64 to Image

  1. Paste complete raw Base64 or a PNG, JPEG or WebP data URL. You can also open a local TXT file.
  2. Select Decode image. The tool checks the Base64, file signature and browser image decoding.
  3. Review the detected format, original byte size and browser-oriented image preview.
  4. Select Download image to save the decoded bytes with the matching file extension.

Why use this tool?

Your encoded text and decoded image are never uploaded to any server; all analysis and decoding happen locally in your browser. Downloads preserve the decoded file bytes, and no account or image history is needed. A local worker handles Base64 validation and decoding.

Tool inputs stay in your browser. Only your theme preference is saved on this device.

A few things worth knowing

Which Base64 inputs are accepted?

Standard Base64 using A–Z, a–z, 0–9, + and /, with valid padding or omitted final padding. ASCII spaces, tabs and line breaks are ignored. Data URLs must use data:image/png;base64, data:image/jpeg;base64, or data:image/webp;base64, followed by encoded bytes. URL-safe Base64, percent-encoded data URLs and extra data URL parameters are not supported.

Which image formats and sizes are supported?

Static PNG, JPEG and WebP. Input text is limited to 16 MiB of characters and imported text files to 16 MiB of bytes. The decoded file must fit within 10 MiB, 40 megapixels and 16,384 pixels per side. SVG, GIF, AVIF, HEIC and detected animated PNG/WebP are not supported. The browser must also successfully decode the image.

Why is my data URL rejected?

The prefix must match the detected image bytes. Invalid characters, malformed padding, nonzero unused padding bits, truncated content or an unsupported image can cause rejection. Copy the full output from Image to Base64, rather than its capped on-screen preview.

Does this resize or convert the image?

No. The preview is scaled to fit the screen and follows browser orientation handling. The download uses the exact decoded bytes, retains metadata and uses the detected image extension. Use Image Converter or Image Resizer for editing.

Is Base64 encrypted?

No. Base64 is reversible binary-to-text encoding. Anyone with the text can recover the file and any metadata inside it. This tool does not decrypt password-protected content or remove metadata.

Can I cancel processing?

Yes. Stop, editing the input or Clear invalidates pending work and removes old downloads. Decoding and preview have a 20-second response limit. Leaving the page releases application-held text and results.
